Most lighting schemes that are produced are done by design engineers who are targeted on the quantity of work that they get through; and not necessarily the quality. They usually only have a minimal amount of time and detail about the project for them to be expected to produce a realistic (and compliant) scheme; and the end result is usually fairly basic and two dimensional.
I pride myself in producing the most realistic lighting designs within the timescales and budgets afforded to me. I believe that the more realistic that you can make a room within a scheme, the more accurate that the design will be; and reflected in the results. I often see proffered schemes where key elements such as partition walls or pillars are not put into the simulated room. These can have a dramatic effect on the way light permeates across a room; and when designing an emergency lighting scheme, these influences can be critical.
I also pride myself in understanding a client’s design brief and seeing through to fruition. I can have as much or as little an involvement in your project as you feel is necessary; so as little as producing the scheme and obtaining manufacturer quotations up to project management and system commissioning. It is really up to you.
