I was engaged by Cox & Tyrer Ltd, electrical contractors of Bootle; Liverpool, to present the results of upgrading the existing external lighting to the branded LED luminaires that I had proposed within the original tender process for them. Using my lighting design software, I have demonstrated that we are able to improve the on the existing lighting levels as well as reducing the energy consumption by around 61%; which is around £80,000 annually in real terms. This annual cost saving has assisted the University with investing in improving on the original lighting scheme; whilst still enjoying a greatly reduced energy consumption. The videos to the right show the extent of the campus lighting project that I built using the Relux lighting design software.
Also, working with the same contractor, in 2014 we upgraded several of the Leahurst campus buildings’ internal lighting using branded LED luminaires. The result was (a) a greatly reduced energy consumption (circa 60%); and (b) a greatly improved working environment for students and staff. The pictures to the right show how the 3D software visualisation compares to the finished installation.
2016 has brought yet another new project for the University; the upgrading of large parts of their sports facility using LED lighting. This project will be vastly improving the lighting levels and environment for the main sports hall and the fitness suite; as well as a number of other areas. This project will be finished by June.
